I met with our Bereavement Group last week, in anticipation of Thanksgiving, and we talked about GRATITUDE! It is so important to maintain a grateful mind and heart. I know it works for me. Sometimes I have the tendency to think of the negative: the plans I had that didn't exactly go as intended, the hurts from the past, my own sinfulness that I can't accept . . .the list can go on and on. I think that this tendency is in all of us. Once we acknowledge that, we can change things, with God's help. We can catch ourselves when we begin to think in negative ways. We can place a positive thought in the negative thought's place.
In reading, I found a great website that enables one to begin a "Gratitude Journal." Just search for "Gratitude Journal" and many different kinds will come up on your computer. It is a great aid to keep each of us in a positive mindset. I know it works for me.
Resurrection spirituality urges me to take the high road of positive thinking. It does not dismiss the evil in our world or the things I need to own about myself that need changing, but Resurrection spirituality encourages me to use the power and presence of the Risen Christ to deal with these realities while still maintaining a positive attitude. Christ is with us. Christ empowers us. We are never alone. Is there anything more positive than that?
