Alleluia!

Alleluia!  What hope filled the hearts of Peter and John as they ran to what they were told was the empty tomb!  What hope fills our hearts as we enter the Easter Season of the Church year, which calls us to renew our confidence in all the promises of Jesus Christ.

He said he would go to prepare a place for us.  He told us that if we believed in him we would have eternal life.  He asked us to understand that following him meant a life of service and self-emptying for others.   He said her would rise again, after three days.  He prayed for us at the final supper with his friends.

We sing ALLELUIA because we know the rest of the story.   We know that the apostles were to die martyrs' deaths because they had unshakeable confidence in the fact that Jesus was alive, never to die again and never to break his promises.  They were so convinced in the reality of the Risen Christ that no suffering imposed by the Roman Empire could ever break their will.   The Resurrection was a transformative experience for them.

So, how is my life going?   Am I as convinced as they were?   Is my confidence in Jesus' power and presence in my life unshakeable?   May my ALLELUIA today ring through me and throughout all I am and do, all the days of my life.   May I, like the martyr, Paul, live knowing that nothing can ever separate me from the love of God, poured out for me by Jesus' life, suffering, death and resurrection.   This is the Resurrection Way.   The Resurrection can transform my life too.
