Remember the Off-Broadway Play or Movie, Godspell? One song from the score became very popular. The words were from a prayer written by St. Richard of Chichester, England.
Day by day, day by day, Oh, dear Lord, three things I pray . . .
To see thee more clearly,
Love thee more dearly,
Follow there more nearly,
Day by day!
Do you remember it? Well, it seems to be a good reminder for me today to begin again on this new day, to live as a disciple. Each day is a new day and the Risen Lord is with me, gifting with the grace to begin again, to go forth to bring his love, peace and joy to all I meet, including my family, friends and even complete strangers!
Let's be aware of that call today. As we enter into our Saturday routine, let's do so knowing that Christ is by our side and the Spirit is ever-present to give us graces and strength in time of need. We leave the boat empty today to go forth to bring God's love to all in our small corner of the world. What a great privilege!
At the end of the day, we may rest knowing it has been a very good day because we did not walk alone.
