We are still basking in the glow of the wonderful visit of Pope Francis to our nation! This great event, and my ability to shuffle my time better with work and all, has helped me to continue our Reflections! Pass the word on for us, if you can!
Pope Francis has given us hope and he has given us challenges. He is asking us to live the Gospel, plain and simple. We seem to complicate the whole process. It is so simple to acknowledge that I am called to love and to extend mercy to everyone, even to my "enemies", but it is so difficult to do!
But Pope Francis is doing it and showing us the way! He does not get caught up in titles or prestige or appearances or anything that easily takes him away from the importance of living the Gospel. He has one focus and that focus is God and the invitation we each have to bring the JOY of Christ to the world, starting in our own backyards.
St. Paul stated it so clearly: "All I want to know is Christ Jesus and the power of his Resurrection." That is the Resurrection Charism which the Sisters of the Resurrection have in the marrow of their bones. Yet, how easy we can forget the driving force of our lives, when we are distracted from centering all we are and have on Christ.
I am grateful for the times in my life when, I get distracted and good friends remind me and bring me back to my Center. Community life does that when we share the values and focus of our lives. Spiritual directors do that, when we entrust the working of our souls to their care. God does that, when we take the time to meet in the depths of prayer and listen to God's Spirit nudging us to do better.
