Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, in today's first reading at Mass, proclaims that it was in the Name of the Risen Jesus that the lame man was healed. This is Peter, who ran away from Jesus and denied knowing Jesus three times. He is a different man now. The Resurrection of Jesus has changed everything for him. The sending of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost has strengthened him. He is living with a personal power that no one, not even death, can take away.
Do I call upon the Name of Jesus often? When I am tempted, do I call out to him? When I am feeling alone or overwhelmed or distraught? Too many times, I may forget to call out to him. I am swallowed up by the feelings of my personal weakness and try to handle things alone.
What do I want to call upon the Risen Jesus for today?
